China's fiscal revenue climbs 6.9%
CHINA'S fiscal revenue rose 6.9 percent year on year in April to 1.08 trillion yuan (US$171.02 billion), the Ministry of Finance said yesterday.
The growth was sharply down from the rise of 18.7 percent in March and a 27.2 percent surge in April last year.
The ministry attributed the lower growth to a slowing tax revenue increase, caused by slower economic growth as well as decline in company profits.
China's fiscal revenue totaled 4.08 trillion yuan in the first four months of this year, up 12.5 percent on an annual basis, the ministry said.
The national tax revenue rose an annual 8.1 percent to 3.53 trillion yuan in the January-April period.
