Firms face shortage of specific skills
ABOUT 40 percent of employers in Chinese mainland are trying to fill vacancies, a 25 percentage-point jump from that of 2009, a survey conducted by Manpower, a leading human resources service company, revealed yesterday.
The survey, which indicated that domestic enterprises face an overall talent shortage from production operators to management talents, covered 35,000 employers across 36 countries and regions. A total of 1,384 companies based in mainland took part in the survey.
"It's difficult for companies to find talents with specific skills they require, and the skills job applicants have don't match companies' requirements which resulted in shortage of relative talent. Such contradiction between supply and demand will be even more severe," Danny Yuan, managing director for Manpower, said.
According to the survey, employers found the jobs of production operators hardest to fill, followed by technicians and management.
