NEW Zealand's position as the first Western country to sign a free trade agreement with China is about to pay off, a New Zealand education expert said last Saturday.

Chinese students will come to New Zealand as part of 10 government-funded scholarships allowing people from both nations to swap countries for study. Robert Stevens from Education New Zealand said the exchange of doctoral scholarships is a very positive development.
