Much work for Shanghai to do
SHANGHAI calls on its financial sector to serve economic development and improve the legal environment of the market, Mayor Han Zheng said yesterday.
"To serve the real economy is an essential requirement while building Shanghai into an international financial center," Han said. "Shanghai should better serve the economic demand of the Yangtze River Delta region, the Yangtze River region and the whole country."
Han emphasized the need for market-oriented reforms and opening-up as well as building a just business environment.
"What makes Shanghai lag behind those leading financial centers in the world is its insufficient market-oriented operations, compliance with international rules and soundness of law enforcement," Han said.
