SME output up
INDUSTRIAL output of Chinese small- and medium-sized enterprises grew 16.9 percent from a year earlier in the first quarter, 2.5 percentage points higher than the level of overall industrial production, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said yesterday.
But global uncertainties, including the international financial crisis, unrest in the Middle East and Japan's nuclear crisis, are expected to have more significant effects on SMEs, especially export-oriented SMEs. In addition, rising production costs and financing difficulties are prominent among the country's SMEs.
