Traders eye sourcing park as hub
THE International Sourcing Park that is being built in Putuo District in Shanghai will become a hub for global trading companies, the Shanghai Commission of Commerce said yesterday.
Covering 38,365 square meters, the park will boast a main exhibition center, two business buildings and some underground facilities that global traders will be able make use for their sourcing needs.
"It is an important step forward for Shanghai to grow into a global trading center,'' said Gu Jun, vice director of the commerce commission. ''The park will become a permanent platform for traders to find business, and will sustain sourcing activities in the city."
Gu made these remarks at the International Sourcing Forum, a prelude of the 11th International Sourcing Fair which will open today at ShanghaiMart. The fair is expected to attract more than 430 buyers from 25 countries and regions as well as about 6,000 suppliers.
