US costs drop

THE cost of living in the US fell last month as the recession deepened, capping the smallest annual gain in a half century. Americans paid 0.1 percent more for goods and services last year, the Labor Department said yesterday in Washington. Consumer prices fell 0.7 percent last month after dropping 1.7 percent the prior month.
