Welcome mat
SHANGHAI will welcome multinational companies to locate their research and development center in the city as it continues efforts to attract foreign investment this year, government officials said yesterday.
The city will also tap the opportunities generated from its value-added tax reform to quickly grow its service industry, they said.
Financial companies will gradually be included in the pilot VAT reform which now includes a variety of transport companies, as well as some service providers, Gu Ju, director of the Shanghai Taxation Bureau, said, without telling a detailed time table.
