BASF R&D center
GERMAN chemical maker BASF aims to have a quarter of its global research and development workforce in Asia Pacific by 2020, Martin Brudermueller, the company's vice chairman responsible for Asia Pacific, said yesterday. BASF yesterday inaugurated its new Asia research center and new China headquarters at its existing site in Waigaoqiao in Shanghai, following a 55-million-euro (US$70.4 million) expansion. The center will ultimately employ more than 2,500 people and be one of its largest outside Germany.
