BASF strategy tilts
GERMANY-BASED chemical company BASF said it will tilt the balance more towards downstream high value-added products to achieve sustainable business growth.
BASF will focus more on expanding production capacity in these products as well as mergers and acquisitions in this sector to optimize its product portfolio to better weather volatility in the economic conditions, said Johnny Kwan, chairman of BASF China country board.
Between 2009 and 2013, BASF plans to invest 2 billion euros (US$2.6 billion) in China, with major investments in Shanghai, Nanjing and Chongqing.
