BHP joins
AUSTRALIAN miner BHP Billiton joined China's new spot iron ore trading platform yesterday, becoming the last of the world's top three suppliers to sign up.
BHP itself is backing a similar platform in Singapore so its joining is seen as a victory for the China Beijing International Mining Exchange ahead of the start-up of the proposed platform in May. Brazil's Vale joined the platform on Tuesday while Rio Tinto signed up last month.
