CHINA National Petroleum Corp, the country's largest oil and gas producer and supplier, yesterday said work had started to construct two oil and gas pipelines between China and Myanmar.
In a statement posted on its Website, CNPC said Southeast Asia Pipeline Co, one of its affiliates, was responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the pipelines.
Each with a length of about 1,100 kilometers, the gas and oil pipelines are expected to run from the Kyaukpyu port on Myanmar's west coast and enter China at Ruili in Yunnan Province.
The oil pipeline can transport 22 million tons per year, and the natural gas pipeline has a capacity of 12 billion cubic meters annually, according to the statement.
