Coatex plans plant

COATEX, a subsidiary of French chemicals company Arkema Group, plans to open its first China plant in Changshu, Jiangsu Province, in July next year.

The 200 million yuan (US$29.7 million) Changshu plant will have an annual production capacity of 80,000 tons, bringing Coatex's total capacity to over 300,000 tons, Coatex Chief Executive Officer Alain Mari said yesterday in Shanghai.

Coatex makes high performance additives used in a wide variety of applications including mineral processing, paper, paints and other industrial specialties.
