Fu takes over at Sinopec

FU Chengyu, former chairman of CNOOC Ltd, will become the new chairman of China Petroleum and Chemical Corp, also known as Sinopec, Asia's biggest refiner.

He will also take up the post as president of China Petrochemical Corp, Sinopec's parent group, the company said yesterday.

Sinopec's former Chairman Su Shulin was designated as vice Party secretary of Fujian Province earlier this month.

Fu will also quit as president of Cnooc's parent, China National Offshore Oil Corp. Fu, 60, started working at Cnooc in 1982. He became the company's chairman in 2003, and its profit jumped more than four times during his seven-year tenure.

China National Petroleum Corp's Vice President Wang Yilin will fill Fu's posts at China National Offshore Oil and CNOOC.
