Industry's Shanghai showcase
SNEC PV Power Expo 2009, a major show for the solar power industry, is to be held in Shanghai next month.
Almost 1,000 solar cell companies will participate in the event, with 35 percent of them coming from overseas, making it the largest such show in Asia, according to the Shanghai New Energy Industry Association, which is the leading host for the event.
The three-day event opens on May 6 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
The following are some of the highlights:
ENN Solar Energy Co, based in Langfang, Hebei Province, will debut its solar modules measuring 5.7 square meters, four times larger than today's typical solar panels, from the production lines of its United States partner Applied Materials Inc;
Suntech Power Holdings Co is to display a model of its headquarters building in Wuxi, Jiangsu. The building incorporates the world's largest on-grid photovoltaic facade system with more than 2,552 semi-transparent solar panels and an annual power output of over 1 million kilowatt hours of electricity;
Nanjing, Jiangsu-based China Sunergy Co will unveil solar cells it claims could have the world's highest conversion efficiency;
and Shanghai Aerospace Automobile Electromechanical Co will display a range of products in the PV cell industry chain, as the company aims to build up an integrated PV business.
