CHINA'S mission to save energy while developing the economy has been accomplished in all provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions during the previous five years, the central government said yesterday.
In a joint statement with the National Bureau of Statistics, the National Development and Reform Commission said energy consumption per unit of gross domestic product dropped by 19.1 percent during the 11th Five-year Plan period between 2006 and 2010. The economy expanded by 11.2 percent annually on average over the past five years, but energy consumption grew by only 6.6 percent annually.
