Modern coal chemical industry to be developed
CHINA will spur the development of a modern coal chemical industry to reduce its reliance on overseas crude and gas and to diversify its fuel supply, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said yesterday.
Four model districts for the modern coal chemical industry will be nurtured in the autonomous regions of Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Xinjiang, as well as Shaanxi Province, the ministry said in a document co-released with the National Development and Reform Commission.
The government will encourage innovation to upgrade the industry by “funding producers to develop advanced equipment to cut carbon and toxic emissions” while integrating the industry with Big Data and Internet of Things to raise efficiency and safety.
“Allowing the industry to develop properly helps enhance energy safety,” the ministry said.
