CHINA Power Investment Corp, one of the nation's biggest electricity producers, said it may spend 60 billion yuan (US$8.8 billion) building power stations in Hunan Province to help spur economic growth.

The Beijing-based parent of Hong Kong-listed China Power International Development Ltd agreed to push forward the construction of hydro, nuclear and thermal power plants in the province, it said in a statement on its Website yesterday.
