Sales to double
Akzo Nobel, the world's largest maker of paints and coatings, yesterday said it plans to double sales in China by 2015.
The Dutch company, which makes Dulux paint, set a target of US$3 billion in 2015 from US$1.5 billion in 2009.
Most of the expansion will be achieved by organic growth, CEO Hans Wijers said in Shanghai, adding acquisitions of small-sized Chinese rivals with technology which can meet specific needs of the Chinese market are possible.
"We are not looking for big acquisitions, we don't need those," he said.
Akzo Nobel employs about 6,500 people in China.
