FINLAND-BASED Outokumpu, a leading producer of stainless steel, yesterday launched a service center in Jiangsu Province to boost production and sales of special grade stainless steel in the domestic market.
The company invested some 20 million euros (US$24.5 million) to build the 42,000-square-meter facility with an estimated annual capacity of 30,000 tons.
The company wishes to tap into an estimated 15 percent growth in China's demand in steel this year, after it shrank 25 percent in Europe in 2009.
