Blue chips lead decliners in Shanghai share trading
SHANGHAI stocks suffered a big loss today, mostly as a result of profit taking on blue chips after several days of gains. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index declined 1.82 percent to 2,296.56 points.
Investors kicked off a round of stock selling in the afternoon, especially dumping the blue chips, which had been traded at a high price in recent days. Sectors such as aviation, military manufacturers, and media led the declining trend in the market.
Avic Aircraft dropped 7.80 percent to 14.90 yuan (US$2.44), while China CSSC Holdings lost 7.03 percent to 29.90 yuan.
