BoCom opens London branch

THE uncertainties of Britain’s vote to leave the European Union did not stop Bank of Communications, China’s fifth-largest bank by assets, from opening a London branch yesterday to help push the use of yuan globally, the bank said.

The Shanghai-headquartered bank would be “actively participating to enhance London to be a leading offshore yuan center in Europe,” said Song Shuguang, chairman of the supervisory committee of BoCom.
