CASS expects 6.6% growth in 4th quarter

A report released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences yesterday said China’s economic growth will touch 6.6 percent in the fourth quarter.

CASS’s full-year growth forecast remains at 6.7 percent.

The Consumer Price Index will add 2.1 percent for the next quarter, CASS said, with a full-year inflation forecast of 2 percent. China aims to hold this year’s consumer price growth at around 3 percent by the end of 2016.

“The GDP growth for the next quarter will slightly move down,” said Wang Hongju, a senior researcher at CASS. “Government should carry on effective financial policies and moderate monetary policies to push reforms, strengthen economic sustainability, and resolve potential risks.”

China’s economy grew 6.9 percent last year, the slowest in 25 years.
