China to hold half of US$5t in new business
CHINA is expected to account for nearly 50 percent of the US$5 trillion worth of new business opportunities in Asia that would create 230 million jobs by 2030 through sustainable business models, according to a latest report.
The opportunities in China are thought to be worth US$2.3 trillion, according to a study released yesterday by Business & Sustainable Development Commission, a non-government organization.
“Asia’s economic transformation in recent decades is unprecedented, thanks to smart government intervention and business innovation,” Mark Malloch-Brown, chair of the commission, and a former deputy Secretary-General of the UN, said in a statement.
Gobally companies could unleash economic opportunities worth up to US$12 trillion and raise employment by up to 380 million jobs by 2030 if they tailor their business strategies to the Sustainable Development Goals laid out by the United Nations.
