Citigroup names Larsen as global head of retail banking

CITIGROUP today appointed Jonathan Larsen, its Hong Kong-based head of consumer banking for Asia Pacific, as global head of retail banking, underlining its vigorous push into Asia for revenue growth.
Larsen will retain his position as head of consumer banking in the region which contributed US$1.1 billion or 37 percent of Citigroup's global net income in the first three months, according to a statement from the third-biggest US lender.
"Asia Pacific presents some of the biggest growth opportunities for Citi globally," Stephen Bird, CEO for Asia Pacific at Citigroup. "The appointment underlines the rising importance of this region to Citi globally and the quality of talent we have here to run global business lines."
