Deficit in foreign service trade widens
CHINA’S deficit in foreign service trade widened in September compared with August, according to data released yesterday by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.
The deficit was 144.4 billion yuan (US$22.9 billion) in September, expanding from 143.6 billion yuan in August and 107.6 billion yuan in July, SAFE data showed.
Income from trade in services in September was 115.8 billion yuan, while spending in service trade was 260.2 billion yuan.
Trade in services covers transport, tourism, telecommunications, construction, advertising, computing and accounting.
China’s State Council has vowed to quicken the development of trade in services.
