FDI rises to US$8.6b

CHINA’S foreign direct investment grew 4.2 percent from a year earlier to 54.68 billion yuan (US$8.6 billion) in October, according to the Ministry of Commerce, compared with an increase of 7.1 percent in September.

In the first 10 months of this year, FDI, which excludes investment in the financial sector, totaled US$103.6 billion, up 8.6 percent from the same period of last year.

Foreign investment in the service sector rose 19.4 percent in the January-October period, with high-tech services jumping 57.5 percent to US$6.76 billion.

High-tech manufacturing attracted US$7.58 billion of foreign investment during the first 10 months, up 11.6 percent.
