Insurance exec dies at office in graft probe
THE chief audit officer at China Export and Credit Insurance Corp is reported to have died in his office shortly after the Party’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said it was investigating him.
Ma Lun died in his office around 6pm on Thursday, Caixin magazine reported yesterday, citing an unidentified source close to the company.
The CCDI said on its website on November 21 that Ma was under investigation on suspicion of serious disciplinary violations.
Ma was also the general manager of the company’s audit division and head of the board of supervisors office.
Ma fell ill at his office on Thursday afternoon and company officials called for the ambulance and the police, Caixin said. But Ma died by the time they arrived at the company.
The CCDI has also removed Hu Zhengming as Party secretary of the China Export and Credit Insurance and head of the administrative office.
A number of top officials at major state-owned companies in sectors including auto, oil and banking have been snared in China’s anti-graft crackdown.
