Investment deals drop nearly 50%
CHINA'S venture capital and private equity market sealed 54 investment deals in February, dropping nearly half from the figure in the same period last year, according to an industry report.
The number of settled deals declined 45.5 percent from a year earlier and fell 32.5 percent from a month earlier, the Zero2IPO Research Center said in a report today.
The total value of 50 deals that have disclosed transaction figures was US$1.2 billion, down 25.4 percent from a year earlier and 57.2 percent from January, the report said.
The Internet industry saw the biggest investment at a combined US$539 million, accounting for 44 percent of the total. It was followed by the US$250 million invested in the farming, forestry, animal husbandry and fishing sector and US$60 million in the energy and mineral sector.
The Internet industry also topped the list of number of deals with 20, followed by the telecommunications sector with 10.
