Japanese Stocks Hit Four-Month Low
JAPANESE shares fell to a fresh four-month low yesterday, bucking overnight gains on Wall Street amid growing pessimism over a recovery.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 stock average dropped 96.10 points, or 1.0 percent, to 9,401.58, the lowest since July 17 when it closed at 9,395.32.
It also marked the fifth consecutive session of decline. The broader Topix lost 1.1 percent to 829.22.
"Investors are becoming pessimistic ... they are frustrated and very disappointed the government has not been able to launch measures to spur the economy," said Masatoshi Sato, a market analyst.
