Market flat with morning session ending unchanged

SHANGHAI'S key stock market index was flat in the morning session with mixed performance across the sectors.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index remained unchanged at midday. Turnover stood at 57.8 billion yuan (US$8.5 billion). Losers outnumbered gainers 543 to 295, with 31 unchanged.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks the smaller domestic market, was down 0.66 percent to close at 1,010.29 points.
Financial shares led the gainers. Pudong Development Bank added 2 percent to 19.44 yuan and China Merchants Bank Co edged up 0.3 percent to 14.86 yuan.
China Pacific Insurance (Group) Co jumped 2 percent to 20.92 yuan and China Life Insurance Co climbed 1.8 percent to 28.33 yuan.
Shipping lines were among the losers. China Cosco Holdings Co, the world's largest operator of dry-bulk ships, slid 1.5 percent to 12.82 yuan. Cosco Shipping Co, a unit of China's largest shipping company, eased 1.28 percent to 10.04 yuan.
