More Investors Open Share Trading Accounts
INVESTORS opened 408,000 new share trading accounts last week, the most in four months.
Nearly 37 percent of all the A-share accounts on the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges, or 56.63 million accounts, held stocks by the end of last week, an increase of 68,000 from a week ago, according to data by the China Securities Depository & Clearing Corp.
Investors, however, are becoming more cautious about the Shanghai Composite Index as it approaches the 3,000-point level, the company said.
It also disclosed that 10.71 percent of all accounts that have traded shares fell for a second consecutive week to the lowest in six weeks.
