Shanghai index gains 0.4% in morning
SHANGHAI stock market edged up higher in the morning session today on strength of ship makers and airliners.
The Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.40 percent to 2,757.31. Turnover added to 67.40 billion yuan (US$10.42 billion).
Ship makers were the biggest gainers in the early trading with a jump 4.56 percent for the sector.
Jiangnan Heavy Industry hiked the daily cap of 10 percent to 29.99 yuan.
Airliners were among the rallied this morning after China pledged to remove import tariffs on diesel and jet fuel starting from July 1 to boost supplies, the Ministry of Finance said.
Hainan Airlines climbed 1.54 percent to 7.23 yuan. China Southern Airlines advanced 1.27 percent to 8 yuan.
The company said in filing to Shanghai Stock Exchange that it plans to sell as much as 2 billion yuan of three-year bonds overseas through a wholly-owned Hong Kong unit.
