Shanghai trade with US robust
SHANGHAI customs said it has seen trade with the US outpace the rise in overall trade in the first seven months of the year.
Imports from the US were worth 153 billion yuan (US$22 billion), up 27.1 percent year on year, according to the customs. Marked growth was seen in imports of automobiles, pharmaceuticals and integrated circuits, the customs said.
Imports of US automobiles were worth 16.25 billion yuan, up 20 percent. Pharmaceutical imports grew by 76.1 percent to 8.69 billion yuan.
Exports to the US in the first seven months this year were worth 448.2 billion yuan, up 13.9 percent year on year.
Mechanical parts, garments, textiles and furniture were the main exports.
That compared with Shanghai’s overall 12.8 percent export growth and 24.2 percent import expansion during the same period.
Customs cited the strong trade with US to the China-US 100-day action plan and strong demand in both Chna and the US.
