Shares edge up
SHANGHAI stocks edged up yesterday, boosted by resource firms and securities companies.
The Shanghai Composite Index added 0.12 percent to close at 3,247.67 points.
Brokerages rose, with Huatai Securities Co jumping 2.66 percent to 19.67 yuan (US$2.91) and Soochow Securities Co gaining 2.19 percent to 11.68 yuan. Non-ferrous metals shares rose as prices of the raw materials gained. Prices of copper rose 3.05 percent yesterday amid higher market demand, Shanghai Securities News reported.
Jiangxi Copper Co Ltd surged 7.25 percent to 20.12 yuan and China Nonferrous Metal Industry’s Foreign Engineering And Construction Co added 2.5 percent to 8.19 yuan.
