A smaller pay rise of 6.7 percent is expected in China this year, down 0.2 percentage points from last year, said a report released at the weekend by China International Intellectech (Shanghai) Corp. The report foresees a 6.4 percent of pay hike for Shanghai companies, down from 6.7 percent last year, while the pay hike in second-tier cities is expected to be higher than in first-tier cities. However, the Internet industry is set to continue to lead with a pay rise of 8.8 percent this year after it led with a 9.2 percent increase in 2016, the report said.
