Smart ammeter standard
CHINA has unveiled a unified standard for the smart ammeter industry to raise the global competitiveness of the country’s smart ammeter makers.
The standard appearances of a smart ammeter will be limited to four as the market is currently occupied by thousands of different sizes and shapes. The new ruling aims to dramatically reduce the costs of making smart ammeters in terms of designing, developing and manufacturing.
The new standards, which were released by the National Energy Administration yesterday, will also include new functions like big data and cloud computing support for smart home devices. The new smart ammeters will be able to prevent electricity theft.
China began to replace the old ammeters with new smart devices in 2009.
