THE Shanghai Futures Exchange yesterday said it will start trading of steel-product contracts on Friday. The steel wire rod and reinforcement bar contracts will give industries that produce, trade and use the products a hedge tool against sometimes wild price gyrations.
The exchange, which already trades copper, aluminum, zinc, gold, natural rubber and fuel oil, started studying steel futures in 2001.
