Stocks edge up
SHANGHAI stocks closed up yesterday despite earlier falls, boosted by infrastructure shares.
The Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.11 percent to 3,208.45 points.
TX Investment said in a research note yesterday that any brief retreat won’t affect the upward trend in the short term with blue chips expected to lead the gains in the near future.
Shares in infrastructure companies and those related to the Belt and Road initiative picked up in the afternoon session. Metallurgical Corp of China jumped the daily cap of 10 percent, and Power Construction Corp of China was up more than 4 percent.
