Unicharm eyes 30% sales growth in China

JAPAN'S biggest diaper maker Unicharm Corp eyes more than 30 percent sales increase in China market this year, as it taps a growing demand of high-end products in the world's second largest economy.

Unicharm said its net profit jumped 14.1 percent year on year to 32.7 billion yen (US$ 271.9 million) last year, and it is expected to reach a record high of 44 billion yen in 2015 due to expansion in overseas markets including China, according to the company's annual report release.

"We'll put us back into China market in 2015 and hope to realize more than 30 percent increase on sales this year, " Takahara Takahisa, President and Chief Executive Officer of the company, said at a press conference. "We see a growing demand for high-end products. Together with premium series made in China, we'll also export more products from Japan to fit the needs."
