1st Czech Republic day at tech exhibition
THE Czech Republic will be the first-ever guest country at the China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair, in a bid to make the event more international.
It is the first time the fair has introduced a guest country and the selection of the Czech Republic is in response to the Chinese government’s “One Belt, One Road” strategy of exploring business opportunities in countries along the ancient Silk Road. The republic will send its largest delegation, made up of more than 300 people and led by senior officials, to China since the 2010 World Expo.
Jaroslav Tvrdik, chairman of the Czech-China Friendship Association, said the Czech Republic expects to be the gateway for Chinese companies entering the eastern European markets. He highlighted the country’s strengths in aerospace, medical equipment, energy conservation and information technology.
A 1,500-square-meter Czech Hall will be set up at the fair to show latest high-tech products and services from the country. The opening day of the fair is designated Czech Day to boost bilateral trade and investment via activities.
The fair will be held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center from April 23 to 25.
