3G.cn gets funding
VENTURE capitalists have invested "tens of millions" of dollars into wireless portal 3G.cn in what is probably the last round of financing before it launches its initial public offering which is expected in "one or two years."
The new investors include a fund controlled by Tian Suning, former China Netcom's chairman, who is now on the new board of the mobile Internet website. He will use his strong telecommunication background to help develop the website, Zhang Xiangdong, 3G.cn's co-founder and president, said yesterday in Shanghai.
The latest injection was the third round of financing for 3G.cn from four investors, which included Tian's China Broadband Capital Partners, IDGVC Partners, JAFCO Asia and WI Harper Group.
