3-way efforts
EBAY Inc will collaborate with China Post and the United States Postal Service to attract more Chinese vendors by providing them with shipping procedures that allow them to sell to American customers easier.
The US auction site hopes to re-establish its presence in China, where the market is dominated by Taobao.com, a C2C site owned by Alibaba Group.
"The collaboration will make the most of the advantages of the three while helping expand Ebay's profits," said Jeff Liao, chief executive officer for eBay's Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan operations and head of eBay's Asia-Pacific cross-border trade.
Under the pact signed yesterday, China Postal Express and Logistics Corp, part of China Post, will operate an express delivery service to the US. An online tracking system will also be launched, according to eBay.
