Alliance chips in to boost voice
A chip industry alliance formed recently by 27 top companies inlcuding Huawei and SMIC on the Chinese mainland will help improve the position of domestic companies in the global technology ladder, a Taiwan-based research firm said yesterday.
By cooperating in production, software, system engineering and information services, the 27-member High-End Chip Alliance will co-ordinate China’s efforts to build a competitive and technologically advanced semiconductor industry to boost the sway of domestic firms in the global industry chain, replacing the influence of the Taiwan semiconductor industry, according to market research firm TrendForce.
The alliance intends to draft specifications for interfaces and chip designs aimed at emerging markets like drones and robots.
