Baidu will divvy up more search revenue to partners

Baidu’s online search revenue allocated to its partners this year will nearly double to 7 billion yuan (US$1.1 billion) due to quick traffic growth and a more efficient advertising system, the company said today.

Overall mobile traffic of Baidu Union's partners jumped 22 times in the past year and covers about 15 percent of total mobile traffic in the country, said Ma Guolin, general manager of business development at Baidu Union.

Baidu Union members now total more than 700,000. Ma said he expects as many as 10 Baidu Union members will receive more than 100 million yuan each from its search-based advertising income this year.

Baidu partners with website owners to display online ads on their websites. Baidu shares the fees generated by these ads with Baidu Union members.

China's largest search engine operator said it will also provide 1 billion yuan in subsidies this year to smartphone application developers to help small websites and app developers adapt their webpages for better viewing on mobile devices.
