China's telecom sector revenue rises 9.2%

CHINA'S telecommunication sector saw its main business revenue rise 9.2 percent from a year earlier to 983.37 billion yuan (US$156.31 billion) between January and November.

About 73.7 percent of the revenue came from mobile communication business, while 26.3 percent was from fixed communication business, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed yesterday.

In the first 11 months, revenue from mobile communications rose 11 percent year on year to 724.53 billion yuan while fixed communication revenue grew 4.4 percent to 258.84 billion yuan, the data showed.

As of November, there were 1.1 billion mobile phone users, of which 220.49 million were 3G users. In the first 11 months, 3G users rose by 92.06 million.

Fixed-line users fell 5.72 million to 279.38 million in the same period.
