Cisco sees no change to links
CISCO Systems Inc, which disclosed plans to pump US$16 billion into China over several years, said yesterday it is committed to its plan despite a financial turmoil roiling other markets.
The world's biggest maker of computer networking equipment aims to grow in the domestic market which has the world's biggest number of Internet users, industry insiders said.
"Despite the challenging economic environment, our commitment to China remains unchanged," said Jim Sherriff, chairman and CEO of Cisco China. "Cisco and China are both in the transformation stage and we hope to contribute to the process where China changes from a manufacturing center to an innovation powerhouse and it's critical for Cisco to?transform from Cisco China to China Cisco," said Sherriff.
The opportunities in China will come from innovation in the next wave of the Internet's development, Cisco Chief Executive Officer John Chambers said previously.
