ADOBE expected China's market to grow rapidly within several years, thanks to the country's start-up creative industry, the United States-based software vendor said yesterday.

China's creative industry, which consists of architecture design, online broadcasting and online game development sectors, only accounts for 3 percent of gross domestic product now, much lower than the 12 to 15 percent in Western countries, industry insiders said.

"Asia Pacific, especially China, is the 'growth engine' for our global revenue," said Julian Quinn, vice president of Adobe Asia Pacific.

Cyber broadcasting, online games and animation design are among Adobe China's fastest growing sectors.

The company has a "mobilized strategy" to allow users to play multimedia games on mobile devices through Adobe's products like Flash.

At present, Apple's iPad doesn't support Flash, a popular online video playing standard.

Adobe is talking with Chinese electronics makers to integrate its product into their devices, including iPad-like products, according to Ng Yew Hwee, managing director of Adobe China.
