English website launched

THE Shanghai Municipal Financial Service Office yesterday launched an English-language website to communicate more effectively with the global community.
The website, en.sjr.sh.gov.cn, provides up-to-date information on Shanghai’s construction of a world-class financial center, financial reforms in the city’s pilot free trade zone, and financial policies and statistics.
The financial industry has grown rapidly as the city aims to build a global financial center by 2020.
In the first 10 months of this year, turnover in the city’s various financial markets totaled 587 trillion yuan (US$95.4 trillion), up 10.6 percent from a year earlier.
Added value in financial industry was 282.3 billion yuan last year, or 13.1 percent of the city’s gross domestic product.
