Google鈥檚 AlphaGo to challenge to top Chinese player
GOOGLE Inc’s AlphaGo will challenge China’s top Go player Ke Jie next month, creating another opportunity for the public to see the rapid development of AI or artificial intelligence.
It’s just over a year since Google stunned the world when its AlphaGo AI beat legend player Lee Se-dol from South Korea. It was the first time for AI to be seriously regarded as a power to boost economy development and change people’s daily life.
Compared with Lee, the 19-year-old Chinese player Ke is regarded the greatest Go player on the planet. He is now ranked No. 1 worldwide after playing Go as a professional since the age of ten. Ke has beaten Lee several times in high-profile matches in recent years.
Ke will play against AlphaGo in a three-game match, besides other games between five of China’s top pros against AlaphGo during the Future of Go Summit, which will be held in Wuzhen between May 23 and May 27.
The summit is co-held by Google, the China Go Association and the local government bureau, which will also include a forum on the future of artificial intelligence.
